Welcome to Yelverton Tennis Club![]() Yelverton Tennis Club was founded in 1984 and is situated in a rural setting on the edge of Dartmoor in Meavy Lane, Yelverton. The land for the courts was made available by the Yelverton War Memorial Recreation Field and Village Hall Charitable Trust who owns it. Yelverton Tennis Club pay an annual rent to the Trust, but the club pays for all the court maintenance. Originally 2 courts were built, but since then a further court has been built and a club house.
We now have 3 hard courts, 2 with flood lights. The funding for that was obtained by fund raising and success in applying for grants. We also have a ball machine which can be used by members and is also a training aid for our coach. Our membership year runs from 1 April to the 31 March. The cost for the use of the floodlights is included in the annual subscription. Courts must be booked before playing. Members must register with Skedda, the court booking system used by the club, when they join the club and booking a court, once you’ve registered, is no problem. Should you have any problems, then Chris Webber is the man to contact (christof.webber@outlook.com) or 07771 792 325 You can play at any time, but league matches and tournaments have priority. Parking for the courts is on the field. Access is through a gate in Meavy Lane. Weekly Adult Club Sessions The club encourages social tennis and players of all standards are made very welcome. Wednesday evening from 6 – 9 pm. A drop-in and mix-in using a peg system. Each match is of seven games before changing players. Liquid refreshments are often available during and after the session! Balls are provided. Sunday morning from 10.30am – 12.30pm. An organised doubles session and those wanting to play should email Chris (christof.webber@outlook.com) before midnight on the preceding Friday. It is usually split into two 1-hour sessions or three 40-minute sessions. Pairings will normally be emailed out by Saturday evening. Balls are provided. Weekly Junior Club Sessions Friday after school 4.30pm - 6.30pm between May - October These sessions are organised by the tennis coach. Junior players aged 9+ are welcome to join in the fun. Come and play some tennis, hang out with your friends, meet new players and practice for the junior team. Hi everyone . . . we do hope that you have enjoyed your tennis in 2022-23 and have either joined or re-joined YTC.
We have purchased three new tennis nets which are now in place. The fencing has been damaged by the recent strong winds and we will be getting them repaired as soon as possible, however all courts are available for play.
The Committee wish you a fun filled 2023 and hope that you will enjoy another year playing at Yelverton Tennis Club.
